The southern auroral electrojet (SAE) index is constructed from 7 ground magnetometers in the southern auroral region. This data set contains a southern auroral electrojet (SAE) index, a southern auroral lower (SAL) index, and a southern auroral upper (SAU) index. Availability of the SAE index may vary from day to day depending upon magnetometer data availabiliy. SAE indices were only produced when data from all stations were available. Details on the magnetometer arrays are available at: Weygand, J.M., and E. Zesta, Comparison of auroral electrojet indices in the Northern and Southern hemispheres, J. Geophys. Res., 113, A08202, doi:10.1029/2008ja013055, 2008.

Southern Auroral electrojet Index
Interpolated universal time columns from left to right are: day month year hour minute sec in the format of dd mm yyyy hh mm ss.
Universal Time expressed using a 6-column day, month, year, hour, minute, second representation
These data are the southern auroral electrojet lower index in units of nT at 60 s resolution. These values were determined using the same method as the World Data Center AL index.
These data are the southern auroral electrojet upper Index in units of nT at 60 s resolution. These values were determined using the same meathod as the World Data Center AU index.
