ResourceID
spase://IUGONET/Instrument/ISEE/MR/BearILD/Meteorradar

Description

The meteor radar at Bear Island site, midway between Tromsoe and Longyearbyen, started regular observations on 1 November 2007. It measures wind velocities between 70 and 110 km (mesosphere and lower thermosphere). The radar system is similar to those being operated at Toromsoe (Hall et al., 2006) and Longyearbyen (Hall et al., 2002). Details of this meteoro radar and early observed results are described in Nozawa et al.(2012, J. Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics).
