The Automatic Weather Station (AWS) at Shigaraki MU Observatory in Shiga Prefecture, Japan (34.86N, 136.11E, 385m MSL) measures surface pressure, temperature, relative humidity, and wind direction and speed. The AWS consists of barometer (PTA 427; Vaisala), vane anemometer (C-W154; Ogasawarakeiki), thermometer (TS-110; Ogasawarakeiki), thermometer and hygrometer (HMP35A; Vaisala), supersonic anemometer (WMT700; Vaisala), tipping bucket rain recorder (RT-5; Ikeda-keiki), rapid rain recorder (RGT-3; Rhesca), disdrometer (laser current weather recorder; Parsivel) and pyrheliometer (CPR-CMP3; Kipp and Zonen). This instrument has been made by Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere (RISH), Kyoto University since April 30, 1994.
