The EUV flux data came from the Extreme UltraViolet Spectrometer on the Atmosphere Explorer E. The data
for 15 wavelength groups are normalized to the reference spectrum SC21REFW.DAT (located in directory REF_SPEC). GET_EUVS.FOR is a program to read
the EUV data file (written by Dean Pesnell).
The EUVS instrument is described in an article by Hinteregger
in Radio Science, Volume 8, Number 4, 349-360, 1973. For more
references please consult the file REF_LIST in the AEDOC
directory.
In addition to the solar EUV measurements, the EUVS also provided
an opportunity to study the optical depth (absorption) of the
thermosphere. Details of this analysis are described in:
L.M. Chaikin and K. Fukui, Absorption Data Analysis
for EUVS Experiment on the Satellites AE-C, D, and E,
Air Force Geophysics Laboratory, Report AFGL-TR-79-0191,
Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts, August 1979.
