Description

Wind 3DP electron pitch angle product providing electron fluxes in 8 directional bins relative to the local magnetic field direction at 15 different energy levels. Time resolution is mode- dependent, with 96s being used for the past several years and with higher resolution (e.g., 24s) used for some earlier intervals. For any given cadence, electron observations made over the full cadence interval and in all look directions in and out of the spacecraft spin plane, are folded together with the magnetic field vector as averaged over the cadence interval, to produce the pitch angle distributions. The data are calibrated science quality data.

Parameter #3

Electron Flux

FLUX
Description

Electron flux is a 15 by 8 dimensional array. The first dimension corresponds to 15 time dependent energy bands (parameter ENERGY, centered from ~5 eV to ~1150 eV). The 2nd dimension corresponds to 8 time dependent pitch angles (parameter PANGLE, ranging from ~15 deg to ~165 deg) relative to the magnetic field direction as averaged over the 96 sec (or other mode-dependent cadence) interval. Pitch angle distributions are calculated using all EESA look directions (ie., the whole cone), not just those in the spin plane.
