The AMPTE CCE Plasma Wave Experiment had five plasma center frequencies of 100 Hz, 730 Hz, 5.4 kHz, 30 kHz and 178 kHz that were sampled every 0.62 s. The instrument consisted of a balanced electric dipole with an effective length of 70 cm. The instrument was the flight spare of the Pioneer Venus Electric Field Detector. For more details, see F. L. Scarf, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, Vol. GE-23, p. 250, 1985.
