AKEBONO Radiation Dose, RDM, Instrument

ResourceID

Description

AKEBONO, also known as EXOS-D, satellite has undertaken studies of particle-acceleration processes in the auroral magnetosphere. The Radiation Monitor, RDM, on AKEBONO consists of the High energy Particle Monitor, HPM, and the monitor for Radiation effect on IC, RIC. RDM data files hosted on the Science Data Base, SDB, are summary files for the HPM data. HPM observes fluxes of electrons in three energy channels, protons in three energy channels, and alpha particles in one energy channel. The table below is adapted from text listed at the following UL: http://www.stp.isas.jaxa.jp/akebono/readme/readme.rdm.txt.

+-------------------------------------------+

ChannelParticleEnergy Range
E1electron>2.5MeV
E2electron0.95 MeV to 2.5 MeV
E3electron0.3 MeV to 0.95 MeV
P1proton29 MeV to 62 MeV
P2proton15 MeV to 29 MeV
P3proton6.3 MeV to 15 MeV
